• Dewald Brevis did his schooling from Afrikaanse Hoer Seunskool (Affies), Pretoria. He got his education along with learning basic cricket from this school itself. The Proteas star cricketers like Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers are alumni from the same school.
• His cricket training and journey like many others started in the backyards. He and his brother used to play cricket in the backyard on the pitch made by their father. Even his mother used to help him by throwing balls at him when his elder brother was not around.
• The sport which he used to play for fun in his backyard took a drastic step when he started playing in the parks and then eventually on the actual cricket grounds.Later, Dewald started playing for his school’s team.
