As part 5 of one of the most popular crime drama series is going to be released soon, Netflix has already revealed the two major new characters that will be introduced in the new season of Money Heist. The Money Heist Season 5 new cast includes a key character from Tokyo’s life who has been teased since we watched the very first episode in the beginning.
Also, this time actor Miguel Angel Silvestre is teaming up with Alex Pina after the success of the drama series Sky Rojo. He will be portraying the character of Rene who was Tokyo’s first partner in crime. As we know, he was killed in a botched burglary as described in Tokyo’s voice at the start of the series.
In the previous seasons, there were few references regarding him in the series but was never actually been seen on screen and he is going to make his debut in this series as Money Heist nears its grand finale.
Look at the first image of Rene and Tokyo together that Miguel Angel Silvestre uploaded:
Except for Rene, we do have some other new faces as we’ll also be meeting Patrick Criado’s Rafael who is the surprise son of Berlin but has vowed to be nothing like his repulsive father, or is that possible really?
The end is now in our sight for the iconic Salvador Dali mask gang, so keep reading on for the latest updates on Money Heist season five, including its release date on Netflix, cast, trailer, and even a few spoilers.

Money Heist season five just a more time than expected thanks to Covid 19. The streamer platform has recently cut a number of its shows short before their storyline reached an end, but fortunately, all Money Heist fans had good news that this was not the case here.
Netflix confirmed via its Twitter handle that the filming on Money Heist season five wrapped in May 2021, along with a group photo of the cast.

Money Heist Season 5 Cast
The action and adventurous nature of Money Heist mean that no character is safe and could leave the show because of his character dying in the heist, but there were a few who are still standing at the end of season four.
The complete list of returning cast members includes; Alvaro Morte as The Professor, Ursula Corbero aka Tokyo, Itziar Ituno now known as Lisbon, Miguel Herran as Rio, Jaime Lorente as Denver, Esther Acebo as Stockholm, Enrique Arce as Arturo who is hated by almost everyone watching this enthralling series, Darko Peric as Helsinki, Hovik Keuchkerian as Bogota, Fernando Cayo as Coronel Tamayo, Belen Cuesta as Manila, Luka Peros as Marseille, Najwa Nimri as Inspector Sierra, Rodrigo de la Serna as Palermo, who can forget Jose Manuel Poga as Gandía, and our Pedro Alonso as Berlín.
We too have few new faces on the board as Netflix has also announced that Miguel Angel Silvestre is joining the Money Heist cast and will portray the role of Rene who was the original love of Tokyo. Rene was killed in a botched robbery at the beginning of the first-ever episode of Part 1.
Also, we will get to see Patrick Criado making his debut on the show as Rafael who is the secret son of Berlin. Rafael has some sort of difference and does not think like his father and is determined not to follow in the footsteps of his mentally unbalanced late father.
Patrick Criado confirmed it via his Instagram post by uploading the photo of the Dali mask. Check out the post which he uploaded below:
Last new faces but not least, in Money Heist Part 5 we will see Jose Manuel Seda portraying the role of the “cold and ruthless” Sagasta who is the Commander of the Special Forces of the Spanish Army. He has set his sights on Professor’s gang and will try to take down them once and for all. Here’s a first look at him:
There are also confirmed three directors alongside the cast, for season five; Jesus Colmenar, Koldo Serra, and Alex Rodrigo.
Money Heist Season 5 Plot
Season four of Money Heist left us with that cliffhanger and there is no doubt that we got to see the new season to pick it up from that, with quite a few more plots tangled that are to be resolve when the show returns.
As we all have watched and if you haven’t then you can check it out in our post which we have linked below in which we discussed, in brief, how, the gang attacked the Royal Mint of Spain (in Money Heist parts one and two), while parts three and four have shown us the present story and how the gang is trying to melt all the gold inside the Bank of Spain. We have completely discussed a recap of all the four parts released up to date.
Check it out here:- Money Heist All Season Recap
Take a quick recap where we left everyone at the end of Money Heist season four:
Tokyo (Ursula Corbero), our main girl is inside the bank along with the rest of the gang.
The Professor (Alvaro Morte), dramatically plot the release of Lisbon but at last, received an unexpected visitor in face of Inspector Sierra in the last moments of season four.
Lisbon (Itziar Ituno), has just gotten free from jail and is now inside the bank, because of the master plan from The Professor.
Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), who has now become a disgraced police officer is on the hunt and a one-woman mission to take down The Professor. She captured The Professor that has left the crew with no means of escape.
Finally, there’s the Easter egg we have come across. If you closely watched the credits you would have already heard the anthem ‘Bella Ciao’ playing which is played for a lot of the Money Heist themes. Guess what is different here is this time around it that the actress Najwa Nimri is singing the cover. Also, just before that, those fighting with Berlin and Sergio can be heard singing the same.
What can we expect from this? Is Alicia going to join the heist gang? About the answer, we’re unsure at the moment but we’d add more to it that Nimri also says the last line of dialogue before the credits too.
There are few fan theories. Like one of the popular ones is that Alicia is Tatiana who is Berlin’s wife from the flashbacks. But to be noted that this doesn’t make any sense at the moment, even if they do have similarities, Tatiana is portrayed by Diana Gomez, not Nimri. Hence at present, we won’t completely rule out this scenario and the connection yet though.
Money Heist final season and spin-offs
We are now all aware that the Money Heist season five is the final and last part of this crime drama show, but Pina told Oprah magazine that he might have few ideas for spin-offs.
He further added that he has many possibilities for some spinoffs and he thinks this is because of the strong identities of the characters. He also said that he would love to write about all the main characters as spinoffs!
We like the sound of all of those!
What else to expect from last and season 5 of Money Heist
Warning: there are spoilers for La Casa De Papel / Money Heist part 5 and also the previous seasons ahead!
Let’s quickly recap the events of part 4 in a brief and how they ended up. The heist is not ended yet and is still very much on with Lisbon now joining the rest of the squad in the Bank of Spain.
One of the biggest challenges that the gang has to face now is that The Professor has been caught red-handed. With a gun pointing at him, part 4 of the series cuts and ended with a new rendition of Bella Caio.
There’s been plenty of theories on Alicia who now is acting and working differently from the other cops secretly. A few users on Reddit believe that her pregnancy might be fake and others predict that she might be the ex-wife of Berlin was initially introduced in the fourth season.
Now back in the bank, the gang has to work out a plan at the final stages of the heist so that they can begin their escape. We all know the team is continuing their work in the basement to melt down the whole gold into small balls so that they can easily take that out.
Now one of the main and big questions that pop up is that even if the gang manages to escape then whether they can keep their freedom, unlike last time of course when Rio was caught. Can they now live a normal life even away from the authorities because all their identities are now out?
Let’s now dive into spoiler hints for the upcoming series final.
Firstly, one of the disturbed minds, Berlin is going to return as we see numerous posts from the actor and even Vancouver Media teasing his return. We all know he died in part 2 and most of his appearances after that in parts 3 and 4 have been flashbacks that now suggest it will continue going the same way into the final season.
Secondly, via an interview, Alex Pina confirmed that season 5 will be like a front war and the gang will now find themselves in irreversible situations.
Let’s now dive into the comments sections and shoot your theories so that we can let them reach other fans. Till then let us all wait for the finale.
